From 24 to 30 April 2025, the Brainiacs Olympiad 2025 Global Final was successfully held at Xiamen University Malaysia. This international competition attracted nearly 200 outstanding young students from 15 countries, including China, Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, to embark on a global journey of knowledge, innovation, and cultural exchange.
The Brainiacs Olympiad is a prominent academic competition designed for students in grades 6 through 12 worldwide. It aims to provide a global platform for youth to demonstrate critical thinking, innovation, and problem-solving skills, while fostering interest and excellence in science, mathematics, artificial intelligence, space innovation and many other fields.
During the opening ceremony, Associate Professor Zhang Ying, Vice President of XMUM, warmly welcomed the attendance of the international students and briefly introduced current development of the university. In her speech, she encouraged the participants to have the courage to ask questions, embrace failure, and break the boundaries of knowledge.
The ceremony highlighted the vibrant cultural diversity of the event. Students from across the world presented captivating performances that celebrated their rich traditions and heritage, promoting deeper understanding among participants. The presence of a representative from the Department of Education in Dushanbe City further underscored the event’s growing international recognition.
The competition featured five categories: Project, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, designed to inspire a hands-on approach to learning and creative problem-solving. In addition to project presentations and assessments, students visited Petrosains, the National Zoo, and Splash Mania Water Park, balancing academic engagement with cultural exploration and team-building activities.
As a rising hub for international education in Southeast Asia, XMUM continues to play a vital role in connecting global youth through shared learning experiences. Through this event, students not only gained valuable skills in collaboration and communication, but also broadened their worldviews, fueling their potential as the changemakers and innovators of tomorrow.
